Focus: Design Services

Our design process focuses upon the client each step of the way. 

• Kick-Off Meeting
  The first step is to identify the project’s functional, aesthetic and financial goals.  We explore these topics with all stakeholders to foster an inclusive spirit throughout design.   
• Research / Develop Options
  Our next step is to investigate all aspects related to the project:  collecting data, documenting existing conditions (if applicable), identifying all zoning and/or regulatory issues, and assessing the surrounding environment context.  Armed with this knowledge base, we develop design options with associated costs, prioritized phasing and programming concepts.
• Charrette (optional)
  Often, we conduct intensive one- to two-day workshops where we explore the options with stakeholders (i.e. administrators, maintenance workers, community, residents, faculty, etc.).  At the end of this workshop, we will have identified a clear common vision.
• Synthesis / Refinement
  With a preferred concept identified, we develop more detailed cost estimates and design information.
• Finalize Design / Document Preparation
  Here we translate ideas and sketches into detailed documents for construction.  We perform quality control reviews, value engineering and cost estimating in greater detail.
