Focus: Sustainability

The concept of sustainable design focuses on structures which use less energy to construct and operate, maximizes the occupant’s quality of life, and conserves our limited natural resources.  Coffey Design Group has not only embraced the concept of sustainable design, it is one of our core values which guide all design projects. 

We use a holistic approach to sustainability to go beyond the “typical” design activities and also address the influence of the construction site on the community, the impact of site grading, water retention, lighting and foliage during and after construction; potable and gray water utilization; maximizing renewable energy sources; energy efficiencies of all building systems; selection of renewable or recyclable building materials; effective construction waste management systems; and commissioning of building systems to ensure achievement of defined operational objectives.

The result is a cost-effective, functional, stimulating space which facilitates living, working, learning and entertainment while being a responsible steward of the limited natural resources in the world.

Coffey Design Group is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and prescribes to the USGBC mission statement “to promote the design and construction of buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work.”
